Songs to inspire and awaken the soul

It all began with an awakening. After twenty-five years of co-writing with her then-husband and creative partner, Portland songwriter, Mina Whitesides discovered something new: her own voice. But it was not without sacrifice. Her path of self-discovery was spurred by a growing distance in her marriage, which eventually ended. It was then that Mina sought to reclaim her sense of self. All the while, her craft called to her. In the past, music was relegated to a hobby as she raised and supported a family. Yet, now, riding the current of midlife hormonal shifts, she tapped into a resurgence of lyrics and melodies. Through the act of writing a song, she’d found her place once again. 

For Mina, it was a blossoming, launching her into a period of intense, prolific songwriting. Suddenly, she found herself able to embrace her own divine, feminine energy and rediscover her purpose. Within her creative well, she discovered raw, unifying experiences. The loss of her parents and the dissolution of her marriage transcended heartfelt sadness into the most poignant craft of her life on subjects of love, loss, and memory. These real-life events gave birth to a catalogue of beautiful, important songs. Her ability to capture life experiences in the format of 3-4-minute songs have transformed her songwriting and uplifted her work. 

Currently, Mina looks forward to more  international releases out of Toronto,ON, where she is part of a creative dream-team with with producer and founder of Music Mentor Productions, Peter Linesman, and recording artist, Carla Sacco. In her own home-town of Portland,OR, exciting projects are taking root, despite the challenges that the coronavirus has brought to us all. Mina has engaged in pleasurable work on projects with talented Portland area  producers such as Matt Greco of The Rye Room. Such collaborations have given Mina the opportunity to work with top talent in Portland. She looks forward to projects at home and abroad.

What’s clear is that Mina Whitesides has found her mission: To create purpose-driven pop & adult contemporary songs that weave together lyrics from life’s experiences. While in the past she has been a concert stage performer, now her focus is writing excellent content for other artists to bring to life. Mina tenderly labors over each song to produce a piece of music strong enough to cross genres. Her work reveals the authentic, lived experience of humanity & femininity that aptly applies to any generation over time. Her tunes are not fleeting nor trendy - Mina creates classics for the enjoyment or all ages.
